January 26, 2005 -- Here's some new art for the new year! What exactly would the world have looked like if the Great Roman Empire had never fallen? If you've browsed in the media section at all, you've already seen some of the nebulous sketches that attempted to solve that riddle. Here, however, are the more developed answers.
These designs concentrate on the world of Rome; still a great power in the universe, but lately besieged by enemies without and within. Despite the recent hardship, Roman architecture yet retains the grandeur and beauty of its ancient beginnings.
Many of these concepts are already realized in the current version of Imperator's Rome. By the way, a major design goal with Imperator's cities was to make them feel enormous without actually being so. We want our players to get from place to place (and adventure to adventure) as quickly as possible, so don't expect to spend too much time running around. If you want to be somewhere - you'll be there. Although as these concept drawings demonstrate, stopping to take in the view might not be a bad idea from time to time!
